While the old volcanic rock has cooled down and lush vegetation has conquered the mountain landscape, the hot thermal springs in Kirishima (Kagoshima Prefecture) testify to their volcanic origin. The hot spring water soaks the soil with minerals and the typical altitude of the tea fields provides a unique level of sunshine, which means that the tea plants are exposed to a special mix of blue and red light, which is so important for the growth of the leaves in particular.

1A KAGOSHIMA-GYOKUROSHINCHA-TEE BIO Exclusive Limited Edition is a tea cultivar that matures at a height of approx. 1,000 meters at the foot of extinct volcanoes. The natural environment is one of the few growing regions in Japan where ideal conditions exist for growing first-class Gyokuros. The conditions for organic cultivation are given accordingly, which the local tea farmers use to cultivate an outstanding Gyokuro. The highest demands are placed on aroma, clear coloring of the infusion and umami.
